People close to the pastors have been pushed out and have left in silence. The story stays controlled, and anyone who questions it is treated as the problem.
It takes a weight of accounts, not a single voice, before a complaint is taken seriously.
Those accounts will probably not come from people still in the church. Inside, the story is held so tightly that people either cannot see it, or will not say it. It is people who have left who can tell what happened.
If you know of anyone who has been hurt, please send them to this page and ask them to get in touch.
I have heard many of the stories of what has gone on, and they would make your toes curl. Trust me: if this gathers momentum, I hope it will be a reckoning.
I can already hear the gnashing of teeth, and the shout that they are the victims. You would hear the same whether they were innocent or guilty. The noise will not tell you which. Pastors, if nothing is going on, you have nothing to worry about, do you?
A process like this will probably take considerable time to pull a coherent view of these behaviours together. I believe patience, kindness and consideration will get us there.
